A walk through the city centre early morning is a sobering reality check.
Count the empty shop units.
Count the shops to let.
Count the shops that closed because of #coronavirusuk
Count the shops yet to reopen, and may never do so.
Count the shop fronts uncleaned, splattered with bird droppings,
Count the shops plastered with advertising leaflets and graffiti
Count the people out of jobs
And keep on counting.
