Spring Hopes

Spring Hopes Sadness lays heavy Over ground hardened to frost And freshly fallen snows Reflect disturbance and turmoil With every step taken against winds pitiless Winds which score and empty bone Replaced by bitter rage and sorrow And reddened angered flesh Provoked to painful white That stings in returning memory But those tears that flow free As momentary liquid aches Are instantaneously frozen By the hope found In spring's quiet emergence All around winter wasteful lies But look to the tree That bears bud and fruit And optimism grows unnoticed Nourished by the snows in thaw Winter punishes, unremorseful The disdain of grey days And sullen enveloping white Yet spring patient rewards With hopes and colours renewed
